A two-day course on Bio-Process Modeling, Cost Analysis, Production Scheduling, Cycle Time Reduction, Debottlenecking, and Waste Minimization is scheduled as a post conference event at the Dalian University of Technology on October 18th and 19th.

Dalian University of Technology
Dept of Bioscience and Bioengineering
2 Linggong Rd.
Dalian, 116024, China

Hosted by Prof. Fengwu Bai

Tel: +86-411-84706329
Fax: +86-411-84708083
email: fwbai@dlut.edu.cn

The course is intended for scientists, engineers, and managers in the Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Bio-Fuel, Specialty Chemical, Food, and Consumer Product industries  that are interested in:

- Modeling and Optimization of Batch and Continuous Processes
- Cost of Goods Analysis & Project Economic Evaluation
- Cycle Time Reduction and Throughput Analysis
- Production Scheduling and Debottlenecking
- Variability Reduction
- Pollution Prevention and Control

The course includes theory on the above subjects and hands-on sessions with SuperPro Designer and SchedulePro. SuperPro is a comprehensive process simulator that facilitates modeling and optimization of batch and continuous processes, cost analysis, cycle time reduction, environmental impact assessment, and other tasks. SchedulePro is a finite capacity scheduling (FCS) tool that handles production scheduling and planning, capacity analysis, and debottlenecking of single and multi-product facilities.

Instructors at colleges and universities that teach Biochemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Engineering, Process and Plant Design, Food Engineering, and related courses are welcome to attend.

Registered attendees of IBS-2008 qualify to attend the course for a highly reduced fee of $195 (the regular course fee is $595/person). All participants will receive a copy of SuperPro LT (list price $995/copy) and detailed sample models for production of biopharmaceuticals, bio-fuels, fine chemicals, as well as thorough template models for wastewater treatment and water purification processes.
