Scope

The International Biotechnology Symposium (IBS) is organized under the auspices of the International Union of Pure and Applied Chemistry (IUPAC). The first IBS was held in 1960 in Rome under the name "International Fermentation Symposium". The name "International Biotechnology Symposium" was first adopted in 1984 in New Delhi, India. Since its inception, IBS has been successfully convened in 10 different countries. Today, it is recognized as the largest international conference in the rapidly growing field of biotechnology. The upcoming IBS is the first to be held in China.
