The Dalian World Expo Center is located in the Xinghai Bay Financial Business Park, one of China’s “model open zones.” Asia’s largest public oceanfront square, Xinghai Square, spreads out magnificently before the Center. The Center is next to major city thoroughfares making transportation convenient. It is only five kilometers from the Dalian Train Station, eight kilometers from the Port of Dalian, ten kilometers from the Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport and twelve kilometers from the Shenyang-Dalian Highway.
The Center covers a ground area of 53,000 square meters, which includes the exhibition halls and the auxiliary facilities. The total construction area of the Center is 141,000 square meters, with 80,000 square meters for the exhibition areas.
Construction of the Dalian World Expo Center began in 2003, and today the Center is recognized as one of Dalian’s landmark buildings. It is a world-class convention and exhibition venue. The famous architect, Emmanuel Delarue, of the French company EDDS, created the Center’s layout and design. The architectural style of the Center fuses the unique features of Dalian’s Xinghai Square district with modern international features creating a modern exhibition structure that has both Chinese and international elements.
The Dalian World Convention and Exhibition Center has one underground level, with an area of 29,000 square meters. There are two levels above ground, covering a total of 37,000 square meters and including eight conference rooms. The maximum capacity of the conference rooms ranges from 100 to 300 persons. The Multifunctional Hall is 5,700 square meters, and holds up to 5,000 conference participants, or 3,000 banquet guests. The exhibition hall can be sub-divided into three independent sections as needed. Altogether there are 3,500 international-standard exhibit sites. The cafeteria has an area of 6,500 square meters.
As a large-scale public-interest project funded by the Dalian City Government, the Dalian World Expo Center boasts state-of-the-art technology, efficient management and world-class service. It has become the exhibition venue of choice in Northeast Asia and is also highly acclaimed among international exhibition venues. The advent of the Center shows that the exhibition industry of Dalian, and even that of Northeast China have stepped into a new era.
